Being Catholic TV was set up in St Augustine's Parish, Coatbridge, Scotland in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. With churches closed for many months, a small team of enthusiastic Catholics looked to develop the Church's mission online using digital media. From its humble beginnings as a parish media platform, it is now reaching thousands of homes each day in Scotland and around the world.
Our aim is to bring high-quality, engaging and faithful Catholic content straight to your home. This aim is expressed in the simple Being Catholic tagline: 'Bringing Church Home'.
We launched on Church Services TV, Facebook, YouTube and our dedicated website, then expanded to Roku TV in 2020 and Amazon Fire TV in 2021. Our channel can be downloaded free directly from the Roku or Amazon Fire app stores.
We broadcast a full daily schedule from 10am – 9.30pm every day, including live Daily Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, novenas, devotions, the daily rosary, catechesis, talks, retreats, meditations, night prayer, religious films and Christian music programmes. We broadcast Sunday Masses in English, Gaelic and Latin (Extraordinary Form), and on the first Sunday of each month a Mass with a Sign Language interpreter.
We are excited about our Gaelic programming and are developing a Polish section to reach the sizeable Polish-speaking audience in Scotland and across the UK.
Being Catholic TV is a not-for-profit channel. All our volunteers give freely of their time and talents for the spread of the Gospel. To cover basic running costs we rely on a small pool of advertisers and the generosity of viewers.
We create our own content and host high-quality third-party content from dioceses, parishes, groups and apostolates in Scotland and beyond. Our mission is to evangelise and share the Good News of the Gospel — and we are always keen to partner with those who share that goal.
